All Talk, No Blog

Let's see... again, last blog? Almost 1 n a half years ago!!!
That's it. I guess I just don't have it in me anymore... Imma quit blogging for real or until a time comes again and I get a calling to do that which I-have-no-idea-what-the-heck-am-i-talking-about. So, here's a bid farewell from a constantly unhappy 4th year medical student with not enough life to be emo about it.

And if I do blog again I'd like to start from scratch, possibly on another site. Goodbye Xanga!

Chiang Mai (Part 2)

So, getting back to where I was...

DAY 2

Had breakfast at hotel and then we chartered a van to get around the various tourist attractions around Chiang Mai. We planned to go to the Elephant Show that day but since there was an Orchid Farm on the way there... we thought we'd stop by. It was an utter disappointment. Remember this name: "Willkommen Bienvenue", and if U ever plan to go Chiang Mai pls do skip this place. There were a couple of orchids around, no doubt about that, but there weren't any living butterfly in the butterfly farm. The souvenir shop was covered with dust (literally, i tell u!). And fully explore the whole place in 10minutes! What was worse, was that they even had the guts to charge and entrance fee or approx RM4 per person. That was an absolute rip-off!

Anyway, we went to the Maesa Elephant Camp (No, that's not where Gordon Freeman got hired!) after that. I wasn't expecting much here (partly due to the orchid farm, but mostly due to fact that I've been to other elephant shows before) but then I was proven wrong. And glad I was!

Elephant does the painting

Now, most of you would be thinking, what image could this elephant possibly conjure? At most, maybe random stripes and paint blots... simple splatter here and there maybe? Dude, you are so wrong. This is the era of Heroes... Animals around the world discover that they have unusual abilities... one that could change the fate of the animal kingdom... Behold, this one paints the future!!!

Alright, just kidding. But this giant dude can actually paint. I saw it with my own eyes. The trainers just stood by and didn't help them direct the brush in any way... it was like entirely their own effort. And man, U won't believe their work... Bet you've never seen any animal paint like this...

 PICT0088
I can't even paint as well as these elephants did... What an insult to mankind!

04022008(009)

This one did a self-portrait. If U look closely, U can see that it's being sold for 4500B, that's like RM450 man!

So yeah, had a real good time at Maesa Elephant Camp. Even made a buddy there...

PICT0094

After that, we went to some Maesa Snake Farm... which wasn't as interesting as the last one, but I got spat in the eye by a monitor lizard. Thank God it wasn't poisonous. After lunch we went to check out how they make thai umbrellas, then we went to a silver factory, followed by a jewelery factory, then a leather factory, and silk factory n etc... basically, it was very educational and boring.

Sometime later in the evening we went to check out some ruins of anchient Chiang Mai.
PICT0129
That's pretty much it. It wasn't as impressive as Tomb Raider made it look in CGIs

then it was night, so we went to the nite bazaar which pretty much like a night market of some sort but it was rather crowded so I decided to not take out my phone to snap pics. So yeah...

DAY 3

I have to type this fast. I really got to go attend to some other stuff. So yeah... I'll the pictures do the talking

We went to Chiang Rai that day. On the way there, we stopped by some hotsprings...

PICT0131
Oh yeah, I 4got to mention, though it's hot in the afternoon when the sun is up, the weather pretty cold in the mornings. That's why we wear jackets... in case u were wondering

Then, we reached Chiang Rai where we visited another hilltribe

Their way of life was so infectious that it didn't take long b4 my dad became one of them...

05022008(005)

Later on, we travelled up north to see the Golden Triangle. What is the golden triangle?
Well it's this part of the river where it's connected to 3 different countries...
05022008(008)
Pretty much like that...

PICT0151

We even crossed over to Laos where they were selling this...

Photo977
What's that? Well... it's a local form of whiskey

Here's a clearer view...
05022008(012)
Yup, Snakes in a Whiskey

05022008(014)
And apparently good for sex. They gave me a sample from the one in the pic above. It's really strong but it taste just like whiskey... without any snakey flavour or anything peculiar. Of cos we didn't buy any home cos Dad was afraid we might not be allowed thru the customs.

That was pretty much it for DAY3...

DAY 4

Were too tired so we just walked around town (oh n we spent a little too much money so i couldn't go bungee jumping. Mum n Dad said I could do that next time in Phuket or something. And so the day went by just like that... Anyway, I'm a little tired now so I guess I'm done blogging today. Many things happened in Chiang Mai but I haven't the time to blog it all, so i guess I'll summarise... Basically (i seem to use this word alot lately) it's a pretty nice place and if you ever plan to go there then just check out the elephant camp n the snake camp and this flora 2007 thingy near the Night Safari. There rest is pretty mundane for the likes of me... Checking out the Golden Triangle may be worth it. Tho it's tiring, u get to cross over to Laos and buy really cheap liqour, or better still snake whiskey which is even cheaper (if drink, of cos)! Otherwise, all in all, Chiang Mai is just a nice place I doubt I'd like to go to again.

DAY 5

Went home... Nuff said

Chiang Mai!!!

3 weeks of holidays are almost over. Tomorrow I must head back to Kedah and begin my 3rd year in MBBS. I haven't got internet there so it might take awhile before my next blog... So till then, this could be my final one

Finally, a post with lotza photos!
Yup, I was in Chiang Mai for about  5days from the 3rd to the 7th (feb) and though it wasn't the best trip of my life... I have pictures!

DAY 1

The flight there was uneventful. I guess that was supposed to be a good thing. Our cousin who lives in Bangkok warned us that the weather in ChiangMai might be a little cold so we prepared heavy armour but when we got there, it was rather sunny and hot. Apparently it has been raining there for a week straight or something but it stopped the day we got there. I'm still wondering if that's a good thing... Our hotel was called the Lanna House (rather misleading I must say, I was pretty much hoping to see Lanna Lang greeting us upon our arrival but to our dismay...). It was small but still, a pretty nice place. We rested awhile before getting a tuk-tuk to bring us go sight-seeing. First stop was...

PICT0026

Bhubing Palace... somewhere near Doi Suthep area... basically, it was this really large garden place filled with many many pretty flowers. Not my fancy, but it was interesting none-the-less. Oh well, what's words without pictures, right?

PICT0001

And more flower power...

... and fountains too!

then we went further up the hills to check out the local hilltribes...

I couldn't afford the souvenirs so I thought I'd take a picture with em instead

It was a really long and tiring day. All the more because we sat in a tuk-tuk (Thailand auto rickshaw). Look what that did to my sister...

PICT0027 *Splat!

Anyway, that night we went to this pretty cool place for dinner. It was called Khum Khantoke... Big hall with a stage where U get to watch ppl perform traditional dances while U dine in traditional "Lanna Style" (No, serious, that's what the brochure said! I have no idea. Lanna could be a tribe or a place)

03022008(013)
That's roughly how the place was like. You're seated on the floor with food (buffet style with free refills) served on the table. That's the stage in the background

And that was pretty much it for Day 1...

Anyway... I've gtg so I'll continue blogging about my chiangmai trip in the next post, Cheers!

Insignificant Stumbling Block

Nope, the title has nothing whatsoever to do with today's post. I just thought it sounded catchy.
Anyways, had a pretty interesting day today. It was another Covert mission from dad.

See, my dad's an agency manager in some insurance company n apparently, they need to attend seminars from time to time to collect credit hours or something so that they can continue doing what they do (some a bit like CME in medical practitioners). Anyways dad was busy today and can't attend one today. And today's one was one of those special offers where 4 hours of seminar yields 8 credit hrs!

But dad had to miss it... such a waste such a waste(song from Sweeney Todd ringing in my ears again!!!)
And that's where I come in

Dang dang... dang dang... dang dang... dang dang
No, i wasn't like saying dang! I was trying to spell out the Mission Impossible Theme... Anyways
Mission Briefing:

  1. Infiltrate into ***(Insurance Company's name, I think I should keep it classified. It was a Covert Mission afterall) HQ dressed as an insurance agent.
  2. Go up to reception and register for seminar under daddy's name n ID no.
  3. Act like a massive social retard n avoid conversations at all cause.
  4. Try to blend in.
  5. Survive 4hours of mental torture and then (and only then!) get the heck out of there.

Sounded easy eh? Well, wasn't really
U see, Objective 1 and Objective was pretty easy actually. Objective 3 was really demanding. Trying so hard not to utter a single word can be really tough and unnatural. And Objective 4 was absurd, cos the room was small... there weren't many people... and worst of all, they were all old n middle aged people. Even me sitting right at the corner can be very very hard to miss! What's worse was that I wore a neck-tie cos I thought that wud help me blend in. I was wrong. Yes, grown-ups wear collared shirts and slacks... but none of them had a tie on! I was sticking out like sore thumb, like bloody polyp (with cystic n haemorrhagic formations), like a bloody ascites, like late stage breast carcinoma with Peu d'Orange texture!!!

A hundred times I was in a position for a perfect conversation (like when i got there but was a heck too early n the only other guy was this funny old man)... Imagine the mess I could get in... with a massive bluff too. I imagined the conversation would have been like...

Old man:  Hi, I'm Mr.X... n U r?

Me: Um, uh... I'm (daddy's name)

Old man: Oh, u're an agent here? Which agency?

Me: Um, the *** Agency?

Old man: Sounds like ur name. Are you...?

Me: Yes, I'm Agency Manager. I know I look young but really, I'm 48! Honest!!!

Old man: Uh... *turns around and shouts out* Guards!!!! We have and Impostor!!!

and then there'll be like bullet time, and I'll go diving like... right out the window... and then SPLAT! Lame lame lame...

Anyway, we had 2hours lunch break but i thought I could save up some money so i decided to skip lunch. I ended walking to some cyber cafe n played Need For Speed: Carbon for an hour (they didn't have any other game I like). But it was cool really. Awesome in game graphics and story line... and the characters... WooHoo! Smoking!!! Cekap gameplay too. Sure beats Most Wanted anytime. I'm now in love with a game I can never play! Heck, why can't I get a better PC??? Anyways

The 2nd session was something entirely different though. It was some health talk... and I found it really interesting... i mean I'm like really interested with whatever that guy presented. I even stayed back and had a chat with the presenter his assistant. It was like Whoa! Real life Sci-Fi man!!!

Anyway, I can't exactly blog about it now. Maybe some other time but if u're curious, check out this websites...

www.profit-over-life.org
www.dr-rath-foundation.org
www.dr-rath-research.org

It's rather long-windled. I can't explain it now, I could but it'll bore u guys (esp if u aren't interested). But this discovery is a massive eye-opener. I recommend it... It's medical related, but if u have the patience it really pays of. Its knowledge worth keeping!

Anyway, that was pretty much it for today... till next post!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggh!

RANT OF THE DAY
oh, n i'm currently gaming NFS Underground (1!!!). I know it's pathethic. I can't help it! I'm pathetic, insignificant emo kid with no cekap PC. My gaming life sucks!

CLOSING THE TWO YEAR GAP
I used to have a 7pack-ab(yes, it was uneven n senget. I always wondered why)... Now I have a happy tummy.

A Quickpost (OK, maybe not)

*did i say headball bangers in my last post? I meant Headbangers Ball. Gosh, it sounds so wrong the other way around (LoL, if u got what i mean)

Hmmm... Lets see...

How do we blog? I dun remember much. Do we start by talking about what happened today?

Hmm... I think so. Erm, here goes me petty attempt of blogging, me so rusty.

Well, i didn't do much today i guess. Got up at 730am n sent my bro to work, laze around at home till 10.30 n then left for 1u to meet Sheena (who u ask? My gf laaa!) n had lunch at Oriental Cravings. Watched Sweeney Todd... hmm... I don't have much to say this time around... simply, it was nice but there's really nothing to comment. It's interesting, something different but the plot was simple... way to simple. It sounded like one of those anecdotes in Singapore Ghost Stories or something. Still... Johnny Depp can sing! Then we went to Celeb Fitness to try out the gym (free trial la, where got money otherwise?) worked out till 7(which was kinda fun, I have pictures of my baby working out in her workout outfit, might or might not put it up. I must ask her permission tho. She'll kill me if she doesn't look good in those pics) n got home for dinner...

Gosh, this IS boring! I must have lost it

So, anyway, in the middle of dinner Elvin (my cousin, sought of) called me to pick him up at the LRT station. I was like Dude! U can't just call me anytime u like n ask me to go pick u up NOW!!!

But yeah, I went along with my bro n picked him up anyway (not b4 finishing my dinner, n then bathing... must have kept him waiting for what must seem like n eternity) and brought him to Murni for some roti Hawaii and Triple Cheese Naan... Guess what? The last time i went to Murni was like 4 yrs ago (n its just bhind my house! weird). Elvin was complaining that he couldn't get either one of his bros (on fon) n that's why he needed me to help him get around. Apparently his eldest bro was in Bukit Bintang and his youger bro was MIA or something like that. So, after our short chill out session I sent him to his aunt's plc and got home

Was getting ready to sleep when the bell rang and guess what? Elvin's bros(Peter and Ah Yeong[dunno his english name]) came by! along with a weird friend of theirs. LoL. ANyway, I had to go down n entertain the guests and talk talk talk... gossip gossip gossip... n then they were off. So yeah, i thought of blogging b4 retiring for the night. I know it's a relatively boring blog cos I've yet to get the hang of it... anyways...

Oh, apparently Peter hasn't blogged in 3 years and after I told him what happened, he said he might get home n try to start again. I can be Infectious too! LoL

RANT OF THE DAY

Full Metal Jacket (formerly known as Gamers' Clutch) has closed down!!! WHAt??? Now there's nowhere(in SS2) we can play(LAN) Dawn of War: Dark Crusade with full races. Shucks man. No one cares about us. PPL think dotA is like the only game ppl go cyber cafes for. Damn them!
